The artificial intelligence major is a new undergraduate major approved by Beijing Institute of Technology in 2019. This major cultivates high-quality innovative talents and outstanding leading talents with an international perspective who can take on the responsibility of national rejuvenation, lead technological innovation and the development of the artificial intelligence industry, serve economic and social development, and take into account both artificial intelligence scientific research and technical engineering. This major complies with the needs of the times in the construction of "new engineering" and adopts the composite professional training model of "artificial intelligence + X". Cultivate new types of comprehensive professional talents based on artificial intelligence and expanded in fields such as computer technology, big data technology, and intelligent application technology. This major is driven by problems, uses projects as carriers, and aims at innovation. It will establish a BIT-IBM-IPS artificial intelligence education laboratory with IBM-Inspur to support majors in carrying out teaching and scientific innovation activities; it will jointly build industrial and Expansion courses to cultivate comprehensive capabilities and engineering literacy; jointly build a certification system with Huawei to conduct Huawei AI professional certification.
