The Vehicle Engineering major was founded in 1950. It is one of the earliest automotive engineering majors in my country. It was renamed the Vehicle Engineering major in 1987. In 2008, it was rated as a specialty major by the Ministry of Education. In 2009, it was approved as a specialty major in Beijing. In 2011, it became a pilot major for the Ministry of Education’s Outstanding Engineer Program. In 2013, it was rated as a key major by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
