The Department of Applied Economics was founded in 1993 as the international trade sub discipline under the Master of Business Administration. In 2004, it obtained the right to grant Master of International Trade. In 2007, it obtained the right to grant Master of Applied Economics. In 2010, it obtained the right to grant Doctor of Applied Economics. After more than ten years of development, especially under the support of the Ministry of Education's "985 Phase II Project" philosophy and social science innovation base, the discipline has entered a stage of rapid development, and the level of scientific research and teaching has improved significantly. In the evaluation of applied economics among 68 colleges and universities published by the Center for Academic Degrees and Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Education on February 16, 2009, our university ranked 25th in the country, 8th in Beijing, 7th in national science and engineering institutions, and 4th in Beijing's science and engineering institutions. In 2015 the doctorate authorization point of applied economics passed the special qualification assessment of the Ministry of Education.
